A scare

The bleeding has stopped, but I was wondering if we wouldn't have to wait a little longer to be parents a second time. I called the midwife and she explained my options. I could go to the ER that day and have an ultrasound to see if the baby was alive (and/or have blood work done), or I could wait and see what happened. Well, I decided to wait, and the bleeding has stopped. So, as far as we know, all is well. I guess you can hear the heart beat at 8wks. Maybe that is by ultrasound only and not doplar, I am not sure of that.

We gave Isaac soymilk for the first time today. He loved it sooo much that we gave him a bit too much...it bubbled right back out! We don't think it was an allergic reaction. He did not exhibit any other signs of allergy. We think he just burped and there was too much, too close to the top. Smile

Our kitchen is almost painted. It is pink and brown. I will take pictures and post them later when I have more time. (When exactly would that be??? smile)

Big Boy

Isaac ate rice for the first time today. We traveled almost 40 minutes to a Great Wall Buffet in Augusta (oh...I was so spoiled by everything being so close in Albuquerque!). Isaac sat in the high chair through the whole meal, keeping himself enertain by trying to get the rice into his mouth. Most of it ended up on the floor of course but I think he felt like a "big boy" eating with Mama and Daddy.

I was going to run all my errands tomorrow since I have the day off...but alas, it is Verterans day and many of the places I need to go will be closed. So instead a friend of mine will come over to help me get focused on some things around the house.

Interviewing Midwives

We had our first interview with a midwife last week. We want to try again for a home birth. This midwife will do VBACs (vaginal birth after cesarean) as long as there is a hospital close by and as long as I am willing to have one ultrasound later in the pregnancy. St. Mary's hospital is 2 minutes from us...no problemo.

She does trade for payment. I am so excited about this because she needs painting done, and yard work. I told James I would feel so loved and supported if he were to "pay" for prenatal care. Especially right now when we have not as much cash flow as we once did, this is a wonderfull option! There is even a program in Maine for people who want to trade their services. The best part is that one hour of anyones' time is worth one hour of someone else's no matter what their skill is!

I want to interview a couple more midwives before I decide, though.

The announcement

It was November 1st. We were headed to Cappy's house for her birthday celebration. After we had dinner and she had opened her gifts, James decided that there was time left for one more gift. After I chickened out and wouldn't make the announcement, he got up to get a piece of paper so he could write down our news. He said, "Our gift to you is you will be 2nd grandma".

She stifled a squeal and asked if she could pass it around. Kathy took the paper and unabashedly read it aloud. All seemed shocked, but happy.

When I got home, I wrote an email to announce to the rest of our friends and family.

My friend Aimee in New Mexico, upon reading our announcement, immediately said (half in jest) "And you will call her Aimee!" She is waiting for someone to take her up on it! Smile. And just tonight I looked up the meaning of Aimee.

It means...

Loved One

Forgetting things...but not to eat

Isaac is asleep. Life is chaos for me everyday...mysterious delicious chaos. I only call it delicious now that I have silence and some time to myself. I have a million "things to do" after moving into a new house, but I find this to be a priority. This being using a blog as a creative outlet; a diary of sorts. It is not a question of how honest to be; one can be quite honest without the drama of daily life splattered across the canvas I suppose. Only I need to pick the colors with my heart, close my eyes and let paint blend where it will.

And so I begin....

I was continually forgetting simple things. I attributed this to the amount of stress in my life at the time...
Marriage - Less than blissful (let's just say the honeymoon is over!)
Moving - moved twice in less than one year.
Buying a house - Just bought our first home
Work - back to work for the first time in 6mo. (since Isaac's birth)
Motherhood - first time mommy!

I remember back in college when I had 3 part time jobs, part time classes and full time friends, I stretched myself so thin that I started sleep walking. My brother may remember me blaming him for stacking my school books and turning my alarm clock upside down over night. I finally figured out it was me doing those things!
So, I certainly know how stress effects me. But when I suddenly turned ravenously hungry almost all the time...I knew something was going on.
When I told Regan that I was forgetting things, as she watch me wolf down eggs benedict, hash browns and a bagel at one sitting, she had a knowing look in her eye.
The knowing (and a bit surprised) look James' eyes reflected mine as we both stared at the two little pink lines about one week later.

We are pregnant again!
